Drosera rotundifolia leaf is a rare herb now growing only in altitudes, in very humid areas, in peat areas. Drosera is used for the treatment of bronchitis, asthma, cough and conjunctivitis, cases where it is also prescribed by homeopathy, either alone or in combination.
Its active ingredients are Ploubangin-Naphthoquinones, Tannins, Organic Acids, Ascorbic Acid, Flavonoid Compounds, Anthocyanins and Inorganic Salts. The chemical research carried out over the past twenty years has confirmed the presence in this herb of various active ingredients and among them some naphthocines derivatives in which, according to the results of subsequent pharmacological investigations, the spasmolytic activity in the smooth muscle tissue and the antibacterial, antiinflammatory effect in the respiratory.
